CHARLOTTE, N.C.--The arrest of a North Carolina midwife is continuing to draw a lot of attention.  Police arrested Emily "Amy" Medwin last week in Charlotte for practicing without a license.

She does have a national certification but since North Carolina does not license midwives it is not permitted here.  About 40 states do license, regulate or permit midwives.

Supporters say women have a right to choose their car providers.  Brooke Atkinson says a state lawmaker is putting together a bill that would change North Carolina's position on midwives.

Opponents say home births are dangerous for the mother and baby.
