CHARLOTTE, N.C. - 2012 is already proving to be a good year for the local film industry.  Thursday FOX Charlotte learned a new television action/drama series called "Banshee" is scheduled to begin filinin in Charlotte this spring.  Local actors and agencies are excited about the film boost.

Marc Soper, Director of the Carolina Talent Agency says he's seeing a huge boost of interest from aspiring actors looking for representation. He attributes that boost to the growing spotlight on the local film industry.

Last year, the state increased its incentives to 25% making the Tar-Heel state more desireable to film-makers. In 2011, several large productions were filmed in the QC.
Thanks to the TV series Homeland and films like Hunger Games and Sleeping Around, more and more local talent from Charlotte are getting their chance in the spotlight.

It's great news for not only local actors, but for the local economy. Haven Wilson, with the Charlotte Film Community says while the film industry in Charlotte still has much
to be desired, it is taking a huge step in the right direction. "We are here. There is a good growing film-base here that know what they're doing, they just need to be given the opportunity," says Wilson.
And in 2012, the opportunity is looking good.
