CHARLOTTE, NC - On Tuesday, around 6pm, Police say Kiara Wright, 18, was attempting a left turn from DeArmon Road onto Browne Road when she turned directly into the path of a truck and was struck in the intersection.  The front of the truck hit the driver's side door.

Ms. Wright was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with life-threatening injuries.  Passengers in her car,  Xavier Joplin, 19, and Cameron Brown, 21, were both hospitalized with serious injuries.  The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Presbyterian Hospital-Huntersville.

Last night, Kiara Wright was pronounced deceased at Carolinas Medical Center from the injuries she sustained in the collision.

Wright was a student at North Mecklenburg High School.  CMS officials say grief counselors are available to students there today.

CMPD Detectives are still conducting an investigation into the accident.
