East Meckenburg High School Teacher Dies in Motor Vehicle Crash

STALLINGS, N. C. - On Sunday June 6th at approximately 4:00 p.m. Stallings Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving several vehicles on Lawyers Rd. at Gold Dust Dr. Upon arrival, law enforcement found four vehicles along with one motorcycle being involved. Four patients were transported by Union EMS to CMC-Main in Charlotte. 
 
The driver of the motorcycle, Donald James Fumo, 51 years of age, of 8109 Stevens Mill Rd. Stallings, was struck in the rear end by an SUV driven by Richard Hardin Forsyth of 8031 Stevens Mill Rd. Stallings, which vaulted Mr. Fumo into the vehicle that was stopped in front of him, which caused a collision with two other vehicles. Mr. Fumo sustained life threatening injuries at the scene of the collision. He later died at the hospital.
The three other patients were treated and released.
 
The collision is still under investigation by the Stallings Police. At this time it is undetermined if charges will be sought.
