CHARLOTTE, NC - A local animal rights group is getting a big financial boost thanks to a Cornhole tournament.

On Saturday, the second annual Bags for Wags Fundraiser was held at the Thirsty Beaver bar in Plaza-Midwood. Dozens of teams donated money to play in the event. All proceeds from the event, the silent auction, and some of the bar’s sales went to the Charlotte Chapter of the Coalition to Un-Chain Dogs.

“There are so many fundraisers I go to and it’s female... predominantly events. So, we wanted to work to get young males involved with this – bring the issues to them and let them know that we need the help out here,” said Jon Littlepage, one of the founders of Bags for Wags.

Last year, the event raised $3,200 for the Humane Society of Charlotte. Organizers expect this event to bring in more than $4,000.
