Police: Belmont Man Stabs Girlfriend Over Steak Dinner

BELMONT, N.C.--Police say a man stabbed his girlfriend over a steak. 

Investigators say Michael Nivens woke up Jennifer Wear early Monday morning questioning her about the steak. 

He wanted to know why her steak tasted different from his. 

He then stabbed Wear several times.  Wear was treated and released from a local hospital. 

Police say Nivens admitted to the stabbing when they arrived on the scene.  Nivens is in the Gaston County Jail with no bond.
