CHARLOTTE, NC - A state program could help you make your home more energy efficient and save you money. The North Carolina Weatherization Assistance Program helps qualified homeowners make the improvements.

Robyn owns a home in East Charlotte and has had trouble keeping it cool. “I had to replace the air conditioning unit… it really didn’t make that much of a difference,” she said.

Robyn then found out about the program, and inspectors came to find the problems – and fix them.

“We use different tools and machines, things like that – devices that tell us exactly where air leaks are,” said Lamont Knotts with Gaston Community Action, one of the agencies that works with the state to provide the service to homeowners.

Robyn says the changes have made her more comfortable this summer. “A big difference – a very big difference,” she said. “My power bill has gone down considerably.”
