Mooresville, N.C. - This sea of laptops puts Starbucks to shame. Teachers, administrators and faculty from 36 districts across 15 states have flocked to Mooresville.

The Mooresville Graded School District's digital conversion which included providing laptops to over 4,000 students wasn't the first, but it is considered among the most successful in the country.

"Students are saying this is relevant to my future and this is about me. This is not about the past," says Mooresville Superintendent Mark Edwards.

Mooresville has seen an increase in test scores following conversion; Chatham County received similar results this year.

Teachers in the sessions are learning how to use multimedia to create their own presentations to engage students. Sessions also offer suggestions for developing public and community support and funding the digital tools.

"How do you afford this within the budget you already have? In fact, we've had budget cuts the last two years and yet we've been able to maintain it and add to it," says Edwards.

Bringing real meaning to the Mooresville Schools motto: every child, every day.
