Police Make Arrest in Concord MurderCONCORD, NC -- A Concord man is behind bars after police say him and another man got into an argument over a cell phone.The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. on NC Hwy 49 in Concord. Upon arrival, officers found John Wallace, 43, of Charlotte, NC, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Wallace was transported to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police have arrested and charged Matthew Sherrill, 22, of Concord, NC with murder. The investigation has revealed that the two men were acquaintances and knew each other for some time prior to the shooting. Police say, the shooting was apparently over a disagreement involving a cell phone the victim had recently purchased from the suspect. Sherrill is currently in custody at the Cabarrus County jail. |
