CHARLOTTE, NC - Film maker April Denee began what she thought would be a short documentary about one busker, a street performer.  Instead, she realized "busking" was a story yet to be told and she wanted to be the one to tell it with her film.

Denee says "busking" is not a term often used in Charlotte, but in cities like New York, it's a more main stream term.  She hopes her film, due out at the end of the year, will help educate people about busking in Charlotte.

Chris Hannibal is a veteran busker in Uptown.  His magic acts have entertained people on the streets of uptown for years.  He says the energy of a street performance, "there's nothing like it". "Artists can get out and say here is what I am,  here is what I produce and the audience is raw, it's real they're going to tell you exactly what they think," says Hannibal.

The documentary film will be ready by the end of the year.

There is even a "Buskapalooza" festival planned for May in Uptown Charlotte - 24 buskers are scheduled to perform in one night.
